Automotive Service Technology
1050 Hour Program - 7 Credits
The Automotive Service Technology program prepares the student for initial employment as an Automotive Service Technician or in a related field. This program focuses on all aspects of vehicle maintenance and repair, while stressing the importance of troubleshooting methods and techniques. The program utilizes the latest technological testing and measuring equipment. The student is also given instruction in the use of tools, equipment and machinery found in up-to-date repair shops and dealerships. “Hands-on” training is an integral part of the program with the student exposed to the latest in automotive technology.
Curriculum in this program is designed based on National Automotive Technician’s Education Foundation (NATEF) precise standards to prepare students for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification.
- Areas of program certification are Automotive Electrical Systems, Automotive Engine Performance, Automotive Brake Systems, Automotive Steering and Suspension Systems. Certification exams are $15 each.
The demand for qualified Automotive Service Technicians (ASE) continues to increase, especially as new vehicles become more complex. Dealerships and independent repair shops constantly search for ASE Master Technicians and specialists. Salaries rise in proportion to knowledge and experience.
