Adult Program - Computer Systems & Information Technology - 900 Hour Program

High School Program - Computer Systems & Information Technology - 6 Credits

Computer Systems and Information Technology prepares students for valuable industry certifications to include: CompTIA A+, Network+ and Security+. This program prepares and equips the student for a career in computer networking. Instructors are industry certified professionals utilizing the latest “state of the art” electronic training equipment. Interactive curriculum software develops student computer skills and enhances the learning environment with visual and “hands-on” interaction. The content includes but is not limited to communication, leadership skills, human relations and employability skills; and safe, efficient work practices.

Certifications
The CompTIA A+ certification is the industry standard for validating vendor-neutral skills expected of an entry-level computer technician. Students gain a broad base of knowledge and competency in core hardware and operating system technologies including installation, configuration, diagnosing, preventive maintenance and basic networking.

The CompTIA Network+ certification is the worldwide standard of competency for professionals with experience in network support or administration. This certification validates critical knowledge of media and topologies, protocols and standards, network implementation and network support.

The CompTIA Security+ certification is the globally designated standard ensuring those skills necessary for IT professionals in the area of computer security. This certification validates comprehensive knowledge in the compliance of network and operational security, access control and identity management, cryptography, as well as catastrophic reclamation.

Sufficient coverage of advanced networking concepts and competencies may also lead to Cisco's CCENT and CCNA industry certifications.

Employment Opportunities
Computer and network technicians are in large demand in all facets of business. As more business processes are computerized it will require more technicians to implement and maintain computers and networks. Other local businesses also hire computer techs on a regular basis.
