Secondary program: Automotive Maintenance & Light Repair - 6 Credits

The Automotive Maintenance & Light Repair program prepares the student for initial employment as an Automotive Service Technician/Mechanic or in a related field. The program focuses on all aspects of vehicle maintenance and repair, while stressing the importance of troubleshooting methods and techniques. The program utilizes the latest technological testing and measuring equipment. The student is also given instruction on the use of tools, equipment and machinery found in up-to-date repair shops and dealerships. “Hands-on” training is an integral part of the programs with the student exposed to the latest in automotive technology.

Certifications
Curriculum in this program is designed based on National Automotive Technician’s Education Foundation (NATEF) precise standards to prepare students for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification. Areas of program certification are Automotive Electrical Systems, Automotive Engine Performance, Automotive Brake Systems, Automotive Steering and Suspension Systems.

Employment Opportunities
The demand for qualified Automotive Service Technicians (ASE) continues to increase, especially as new vehicles become more complex.
