Adult Program - Electrical and Instrumentation Technology 1 - 1000 Hour Program

High School Program - Electrical and Instrumentation Technology 1 - 7 Credits

The E & I Tech program at Locklin prepares the student for a career in the industrial field. So many industrial firms now use automation practices requiring highly programmed electronic equipment and due to their complicated nature, these devices frequently run into problems that E & I Techs must solve. E & I Techs troubleshoot, repair and maintain the various parts needed to keep electronic machinery running smoothly and effectively.

The E & I Tech program will offer the Certified Production Technician (CPT) industry certification awarded through the Manufacturing Skill Standards Council (MSSC), an industry led, training, assessment and certification system focused on the core skills and knowledge needed by the nation's front-line production and material handling workers.

The course sequence provides coherent and rigorous content aligned with challenging academic standards and relevant technical knowledge and skills needed to prepare for further education and careers in the manufacturing career cluster; provides technical skill proficiency, and includes competency-based applied learning that contributes to the academic knowledge, higher-order reasoning and problem-solving skills, work attitudes, general employability skills, technical skills, and occupation-specific skills, and knowledge of all aspects of the manufacturing career cluster.

The content includes but is not limited to communication skills, leadership skills, human relations and employability skills, safe and efficient work practices, and the technical training to support professional personnel in the engineering, design, development and evaluation of electrical and instrument systems.

Employment Opportunities
Electrical and Instrumentation Technology is in the growing advanced manufacturing industry. Upon program completion and attainment of industry certification, an individual may work as an Electrical & Electronic Equipment Assembler.
