Diesel Mechanic - APPR Apprenticeship Program
Our Deisel Mechanic Apprenticeship Program (Diesel Mechanic – APPR) is a 3-year, 6000-hour accredited apprenticeship program that provides a combination of on-the-job training (OJT) and related training instruction (RTI). The RTI classroom segment meets face-to-face each Thursday from 5:30- 9:00 pm at Locklin Technical College. This program is designed to provide students the theoretical knowledge in diesel engine maintenance and repair. Students will learn about engine systems, diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repair techniques by a certified instructor. This program prepares participants for the jobsite while also providing the opportunity to earn the Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) T-Series Certifications. Upon completion of the apprenticeship program, apprentices are awarded an Apprenticeship Completion Certificate from the Florida Department of Education, Division of Workforce Development. These credentials are recognized and respected by the federal, state and relevant industries.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must have a high school diploma or GED equivalent; or be co-enrolled in a GED program.
- Must be employed on a full-time basis by a participating employer in the Locklin Technical College, GNJ program.
